Bath, England

The architecture is amazing.  The sandstone used in these old buildings lends itself to such outstanding timeless details even in the evening with artificial light,  simple yet elegant.  These photos make me want to explore Europe.  I think the style could fit well at the beach

Blue Blue Blue

I don't think you can ever have enough blue. Light blue was very big at market this year.  You would be surprised at how many colors you can pair with light blue or in our house it's know as "Carolina Blue"

My Favorite Candles

"I love to work with this company. At market, you can find the owner helping customers right alongside the sales persons. The quality is top-notch and the price is right too. These candles come in so many colors it's hard to choose which ones to bring into the store! They are drip-free and have a great opaque quality about them. They come in almost a dozen different sizes so there is something for everyone. Come by and stock up!"

Color of the Year ~~Raspberry~~

~~ Raspberry ~~
At market we noticed a lot of this pretty red/pink color in lots of places.
Look at it on this wall. I am not sure I would have picked this without seeing it in this room.
You don't have to do a large area to get the warmth of the color - raspberry.
You can add it slowly will a splash here and there around the room with  pillows or  a throw.

All Weather Sleeping Porch

Can you imagine sleeping on this porch !!  I think this could be my favorite place ever.   Notice  the POPs of raspberry on the backdrop of taupe.   Rain, sunshine, or snow  I think this would be the best napping place on earth.

White wall, white furniture but where? Oh yes I see it now it's under the speckles of color

A popular decorating trend at market for the past two years has been to start with a neutral color palate in a room and then add pops of color.  This concept is not only less expensive, but it can save you valuable time and energy!

Many people assume that if you use white, gray, or taupe as the foundation color for a room it will be dull. On the contrary, take a look at this bedroom. Can you even see the white? The eye is drawn immediately to the green in the art work. The addition of color throughout the room subtly disguises the stark foundation color so much so that the white is really the last color one sees!

The coloring in this dining room is displayed in the same fashion. Instead of being startled by the white on the walls, the eye takes pleasure in the colorful flowers almost instantly. Place any vibrant object on this table and the room will come alive. Now, to complete the picture, add a few friends or your family and this dining room will simply have it all: color and love. What more could you ask of a room?

Up Next: Monday we will look at taupes and grays.

Sea shell hangers

I have one of these on my office door and each time I open the door I think of the beach  and it makes me smile. Made of shells, beads and hemp these shell hangs make a great accent on a door, cabinet or even as a fan pull.

Surround yourself with driftwood

When you see driftwood don't you just wonder of its' journeys?  The old world weathered look is prefect for the beach or the mountains.  Just tuck a few starfish between the twigs and whola you have a great beach look.
